Company History

In a Chicago basement, Roy Singham established Singham Business Services in the late 1980s as a management consulting firm catering to the equipment leasing sector. Singham claims that after two to three years, he began hiring more employees and, in 1990, came up with the moniker Thoughtworks. The business concentrated on developing software applications after being renamed and established in 1993. Java was added to Thoughtworks’ technology in the late 1990s, replacing C++ and Forte 4GL in the mid-1990s.
