Company History

Amdocs was founded in the year 1982 in Israel as Aurec Information & Directory Systems, an offshoot of the Israeli phone directory company Golden Pages, which was owned by the Aurec Group headed by Morris Kahn. Founders included Morris Kahn, Boaz Dotan and Avinoam Naor. The company’s initial focus was on developing innovative billing software for phone directory publishers.

In the year 1985, Southwestern Bell Corporation acquired 50% stakes in the company, leading to its rebranding as Amdocs. Within a period of two years, Aurec Group sold its holdings in Amdocs for nearly USD 1 billion. Amdocs diversified into telephony and mobile services in the 1990-1995 period.

Amdocs acquired International Telecommunications Data System Corporation in 1999, followed by Solect Technology Group in 2000. The company expanded throughout 2000s through a number of acquisitions.

Current Status

Amdocs’ flagship software suites and platforms include aOS agentic operating system purpose-built for telecommunications, Customer Experience Suite spanning business, operations and network domains, and MarketONE subscription management and monetisation platform.
